During a pending divorce, you can’t change your will or move jointly owned assets — the court’s injunction freezes them. But once your final decree is in place, that freeze lifts, and now it matters: your financial accounts, life insurance, and 401(k) were often jointly owned or set to pass to your former spouse. Unless you change them, your ex may still inherit.
